with historic Vicksburg.

Played by the calliopes of visiting
steamboats and resounding through the audience in every Gold in the Hills 
performance, this song is as Vicksburg 
as the hills and hollers.

This rendition is played by 
"Perfessor" Bill Edwards of Virginia.

When we explained our project, renowned national ragtime artist Bill Edwards was excited  to grant us license to use his calliope version of this popular tune as our web site theme.  A native of California, his music sounds as though it was born on Washington Street in the early 1900s.
